If you didn’t get around to planning that big day out for the team last year, then 2017 is the perfect opportunity to hit the out-of-office button and escape your desks for a day of team-building fun. And with a host of new, exciting activities to test your wits, team spirit and problem-solving skills, there’s never been a better time to plan your Company Away Day.
But don’t take our word for it, here’s a look at our most popular team-building activities for 2017.
“We don’t grow when things are easy; we grow when we face challenges” – Anon
Is your workplace packed with rugby fans or “egg chasers”? If so, they’ll love this brilliant Haka Workshop where your team will be taught the history of the world-famous dance by a traditional Maori warrior, before learning (and performing of course) their very own Haka. It’s a fantastic way to kick-start a day of team-building activities and something that might even find its way into the boardroom when you need a little extra motivation.
“Coming together is a beginning, staying together is progress, and working together is success” – Henry Ford
The Master Chefs
Rustle up a healthy amount of team spirit by taking the team out of the office and into the kitchen. An expert chef will teach you a few culinary tips and tricks as you prepare a number of delicious dishes – but you’ll need to delegate tasks responsibly (just like a real working kitchen) if you’re to really impress the judges. The prize for winning? A tasty bottle of bubbly. The stakes? Medium-rare please. Find out more…
“You can discover more about a person in an hour of play than in a year of conversation” – Plato
The weekly 9-5 can often feel like an episode of 24 is playing out in your workplace but in this Spy School you really will need Jack Bauer levels of confidence, Sherlock’s intellect and the teamwork of Spooks to complete an intense series of themed challenges and eventually discover the mole in your organization. Warning – May cause your boss to perform his awful “Bond, James Bond” impression.
“Teamwork divides the task and multiplies the success” – Anon
Organising a summer away day? There isn’t a better time to host your own Office Olympics. But these are little more comedy than Colin Jackson as instead of athletic events, you’ll be taking on massive inflatable obstacles and haywire challenges that make for a superb leveller when the COO takes on the most junior of colleagues.
“Alone we can do so little. Together we can do so much” – Helen Keller
There’s been a murder! But who dunnit? Why did they do it? And will they get away with it? So many questions, so little time. Gather your team and get on the case with former Scotland Yard detectives to help you along the way. You’ll have authentic kit and learn real techniques used by crime scene investigators today – but as the mystery unfolds, it becomes apparent that you’re racing against more than just time…
“I can do things you cannot, you can do things I cannot; together we can do great things” – Mother Theresa
Zombie Boot Camp
We’re pretty confident that nothing binds a team together faster than a horde of chasing zombies. But just to make sure you can take your team to our Zombie Boot Camp and learn combat skills from ex-military personnel to prepare for the (imminent?!?) dawn of the dead. Most sessions even feature live actors kitted out with ultra-realistic SFX.
